What is an energy performance certificate

Energy Performance Certificates will tell home buyers and sellers about a homes energy efficiency- using A to G ratings like those used on fridges and washing machines at the present.It is expected that a homes EPC will be attached to the particulars given to the prospective buyer and included in the HIP. The certificates will make recommendations for cost effective improvements that can be made to help cut fuel bills and carbon emissions. Our homes currently account for 27% of the Uk's carbon emissions, contributing to global climate change.

The EPC is provided by a Domestic Energy Assessor.

How do i arrange an EPC

We have local Domestic Energy Assessors at hand to provide your EPC. Simply contact us to arrange an appointment and the EPC can be produced within a few days.

How is the survey carried out

Once the appointment has been made the DEA will call at you house to undertake a survey of your property. They will introduce themselves, show identification and may ask relevant information about your property eg, when was it built, when was double glazing installed, do you have cavity wall insulation etc It would be useful if information could be supplied about the property , any information /manuals about the central heating system and the certificates to prove work undertaken would be of benefit.

The survey will take approximately 40 min's and is non intrusive i.e will not cause damage or disturbance to your property or its contents.It is important that a reasonable adult is present and the survey can be carried out without disturbances which may effect the concentration/data collection. The surveyor will need access to all rooms in your home if accurate data is to be collected.

Photographs may also be taken to help record relevant information.
